Why mentor?

A caring adult makes a difference in a child's life. Mentoring builds self-esteem, improves academic performance, positively influences attitudes, models citizenship, and expands horizons. You can make this kind of a difference in a child's life! And you might be surprised by the impact this relationship has on you!

The Commitment

Mentors commit to a 30-minute visit per week during the school year. Once approved (i.e., once application, background check, and training are complete), each mentor is paired with an elementary, middle or high school student, and a set time for visits during the school day is established.

To guide the mentor-student time, mentors are equipped with a monthly guide that offers games and activities to connect with your mentee. Sometimes mentors help their students with schoolwork.

Training

All mentors must attend a training session and complete the school background check before being paired with a student. Browns Bridge Church hosts training sessions in September and Forsyth County Schools provides trainings throughout the year as well.
